Southern District CEU Meeting
Topic: Gait Biomechanics and Orthotic Applications
Speaker: Robert Meier, CO

Location: Maple Room, Forrest General Hospital
4 CEUS, $60 for MPTA members and $80 for nonmembers
Time: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Biomechanics has been taught from an open chain point of view. This program not only emphasizes the closed chain concepts of gait, but then applies those functional concepts to orthotic design to enhance gait outcomes. This program integrates bio-mechanics, proprioception and muscle function with orthotic design and application to expand the possibilities for enhanced gait outcomes.

Legislative Day at the State Capitol
Location: 1st floor of the Capitol in the Rotunda in Jackson
Time: 7:30 am – 12:00 pm
MPTA will be hosting a PT informational booth and activities in the Rotunda to provide state legislators with information on the PT profession. This year, we will be looking at direct access & making adjustments to the repealer that is currently in place.
This is a GREAT opportunity to educate state legislators and make a difference for the PT profession in Mississippi! Building and fostering relationships with state legislators is key to ensuring success in our future PT legislative endeavors.
